Sensitive symptoms deserve clear, respectful care.
Bladder, bowel or pelvic symptoms can be difficult to talk about, and pregnancy or childbirth can change how movement feels. We give you space to explain what is happening and what you want to work on. Assessment options and recommendations are discussed openly, with privacy and your agreement throughout.
Who is women’s health home physiotherapy for?
- People with pelvic-floor, bladder or bowel symptoms seeking physiotherapy advice.
- People with pregnancy-related back or pelvic discomfort.
- People discussing movement or pelvic-health recovery after childbirth or relevant surgery.
How physiotherapy can help
- Discuss pelvic-floor symptoms and their effect on everyday life.
- Assess appropriate movement needs during pregnancy or after childbirth or surgery.
- Explain suitable exercises and activity advice based on your individual assessment.
What happens during a visit?
We begin with a private discussion of symptoms, relevant health, pregnancy or surgical history and your goals. Your physiotherapist explains the assessment options before any examination. You can ask questions, decline an examination or ask to stop. The plan is agreed with you and takes account of relevant medical advice and recovery guidance.
Your physiotherapist will explain if another service or further assessment would be more appropriate.
Before we arrive
- Choose a private, comfortable space and have relevant pregnancy, birth or surgical guidance available.
- Tell us beforehand about privacy needs or a requested chaperone; examinations are explained and require your agreement.
Paying for your home visit
- Self-pay
- Our standard home visit is £160 for 60 minutes. Check the visit details and payment policy before confirming.
- Health cash plans
- You pay for the visit and receive a paid itemised invoice. Check your plan’s home-visit cover, limits and claim requirements before booking.
- Private medical insurance
- Confirm that your insurer authorises home physiotherapy with the clinician providing your care. Recognition for clinic treatment does not automatically cover a home visit. Your policy may include an excess or shortfall.
Questions about this care
Will I have to have an internal examination?
No. An internal examination may be discussed where relevant, but it is not automatic. Its purpose is explained first and it only proceeds with your agreement. You can decline or ask to stop, and we can discuss other assessment and treatment options.
Can I arrange a visit during pregnancy or after childbirth?
Yes, you can discuss your needs with us. Suitability and timing depend on your symptoms, recovery and medical advice. Share any guidance from your maternity or surgical team before the appointment.
Can I request a chaperone?
Tell us when arranging your visit if you would like a chaperone. We’ll discuss the arrangements with you before confirming the appointment.
