Support for the next stage of recovery.
Recovering from an operation can make ordinary activities feel unfamiliar. Home physiotherapy focuses on what you need to manage in your own surroundings, alongside the rehabilitation guidance from your surgical team.
Who is home post-surgery rehabilitation for?
- Adults recovering after joint replacement or other orthopaedic surgery.
- People who need help with everyday movement during their recovery.
- People with a rehabilitation plan from their surgical team who want support putting it into practice at home.
How physiotherapy can help
- Review your surgical instructions and understand how you are managing at home.
- Work on appropriate movement, strength and everyday activities.
- Agree exercises and practical goals, then review them as your needs change.
What happens during a visit?
We discuss your operation, the guidance you have been given and the activities you find difficult. Assessment and treatment are adapted to your stage of recovery. We explain what we can work on together and agree a practical plan that respects your surgical instructions.
Your physiotherapist will explain if another service or further assessment would be more appropriate.
Before we arrive
- Have your discharge summary and any surgical restrictions or exercise instructions ready.
- Keep your usual walking aids available and tell us about steps or access needs when arranging the visit.
Paying for your home visit
- Self-pay
- Our standard home visit is £160 for 60 minutes. Check the visit details and payment policy before confirming.
- Health cash plans
- You pay for the visit and receive a paid itemised invoice. Check your plan’s home-visit cover, limits and claim requirements before booking.
- Private medical insurance
- Confirm that your insurer authorises home physiotherapy with the clinician providing your care. Recognition for clinic treatment does not automatically cover a home visit. Your policy may include an excess or shortfall.
Questions about this care
When should I arrange a visit?
Contact us with the type and date of your operation and any instructions you have received. We can discuss suitability and the next step; the right timing depends on your individual recovery.
Can you work with my existing rehabilitation plan?
Yes. Bring the guidance you already have so it can be considered during the assessment. Any restrictions or instructions from your surgical team need to be respected.
Will I need a set number of sessions?
We discuss follow-up care after understanding your needs. You do not have to commit to a fixed course before your first assessment.
