Neurological physiotherapy

Work on the movements that matter in your daily life.

Rehabilitation around your abilities and priorities.

Living with a neurological condition can make familiar movements more challenging. The starting point is your experience: how you move now, what has changed and what you want to work towards. A home assessment lets us consider everyday tasks and the support or equipment you already use.

Who is home neurological physiotherapy for?

  • People with movement difficulties following a stroke or brain injury.
  • People living with conditions such as Parkinson’s disease or multiple sclerosis.
  • People with neurological rehabilitation needs who want to work on relevant everyday movements at home.

How physiotherapy can help

  • Assess relevant strength, coordination, balance, posture and mobility.
  • Work on agreed everyday tasks, such as standing, walking or moving between a bed and chair.
  • Discuss an individual exercise plan and appropriate family or carer involvement.

What happens during a visit?

We discuss your condition, health history, symptoms and any advice from your care team. Assessment is tailored to your abilities and may include movement, balance or functional tasks. Your physiotherapist explains the findings and proposed approach, then agrees goals and next steps with you. Activities and pacing are adapted to your needs.

Your physiotherapist will explain if another service or further assessment would be more appropriate.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about your condition and current rehabilitation; have relevant medical advice and your medication list available.
  • Keep usual mobility aids or orthotics ready and discuss any communication support or carer involvement beforehand.

Questions about this care

Do I need an established diagnosis?

Tell us about your condition, symptoms and the medical care you have received. We can discuss suitability. New or unexplained neurological symptoms may need medical assessment rather than a planned physiotherapy visit.

Can a family member or carer join the appointment?

Yes, where you want their involvement and it is appropriate. They may help explain everyday difficulties, support communication or understand an agreed plan. We discuss consent and their role with you.

How many visits will I need?

There is no fixed number for every neurological condition. We discuss your goals and needs after assessment and review the plan with you. Progress and the support required vary between people.

Arrange the right home care.

Tell us about the care needed. We check suitability and visit arrangements before confirming an appointment. No payment is taken for a request.
